Can a child travel alone on Frontier Airlines?

Traveling alone for a minor is scary. Besides the child, it is a big commitment from the parents as well as the airlines to help a child have a safe and comfortable air travel experience. To ensure this, airlines have put in place policies that help with navigation and other aspects of flying solo as a minor. So, keeping the changing travel needs in mind, Frontier Unaccompanied Minor rules and regulations have been updated by the airline. What are the unaccompanied minor rules on Frontier?

For minors, airline travel policies vary from carrier to carrier. Further, there are some airlines that don’t allow minors to travel alone, and Frontier Airlines is one of them. So, when it comes to children, there is no Frontier Unaccompanied Minor Policy, as children without a guardian are not allowed on the flight. 


Does Frontier have unaccompanied minor service?

No, Frontier Airlines does not offer unaccompanied minor service anymore. Since November 1, 2018, Frontier Airlines Unaccompanied Minor Service has been completely suspended for the global passengers. 


How much is the Frontier Unaccompanied Minor Fee?

As per the recent policy updates, there is no fee for unaccompanied minors, as the policy for unaccompanied minors has been removed, and now, on Frontier Airlines, minors have to be accompanied by an adult.  Therefore, the Frontier Unaccompanied Minor Fee is not there. 


Can minors fly alone with Frontier?

No, Frontier Airlines will not allow minors to fly alone. Minors who are under 15 should have an adult with them through the flight. Also, since November 1, 2018, Frontier does not offer unaccompanied minor programs.


Does a 16 year old need ID to fly Frontier?

No, kids from the age group of 16 years don’t need any IDs to fly Frontier Airlines. But, they need to have a soft copy of their birth certificate. Even if a child is not flying as a Frontier unaccompanied minor they could require a birth certificate to act as proof of ID until the time the traveler turns 18 and receives their government-issued ID. 


Does Frontier put kids next to parents?

Yes, Frontier Airlines does seat minors with their parents or an accompanying adult. In order to make this process easier, it is recommended that the minor’s tickets be booked along with an adult. This means that Frontier unaccompanied minor travel is not possible anymore. 


What documents do minors need for Frontier Airlines?

Frontier Airlines Unaccompanied Minor need a copy of their birth certificate to travel and should be accompanied by an adult. Further documentation may be required depending on whether the child is traveling with both parents, a single parent, or a guardian. For example, a single parent who has lost their better half will need to carry the birth certificate while traveling with their child.  


Does Frontier ask for a birth certificate?

Yes, passengers under the age of 18 require a copy of their birth certificate. Passengers over the age of 18 require valid ID issued by the government ID. Valid government ID could be anything from a passport (especially for international flights) to a state-issued photo ID.

Hence, airlines keep changing their policies regarding what are the requirements and conditions under which minors can travel solo by air. However, Frontier unaccompanied minor have gone through an update, which disallows minors under the age of 15 can’t travel solo.
